Every day, 1 billion people go to bed HUNGRY.
And 1 billion people wake up FAT and OVERFED.
Now is the time for you to take a stand and get involved.
Thought for Food (TFF) announces its inaugural summit on 26 March in Brussels (BXL) and we need you there! TFF is a global movement that challenges university students to come up with bold ideas to reinvent our food production and consumption systems for 9 billion people.
For the first time, we will bring together young innovators, social entrepreneurs, activists and food enthusiasts from around the world in a unique location at the top of the famous Atomium landmark. Together we will network, motivate and energize each other, while developing creative action plans to build a sustainable and just food future. Key issues surrounding food security will be questioned, analyzed, and brainstormed, and solutions will be put into action.
The event will bring together approximately 50-70 university students and leaders from three fields: policy, business and social media. We have an incredible line-up of inspirational speakers, including Ellen Gustafson from the 30 Project, author and activist James Marshall Reilly, Director of the ONE campaign Alexander Woollcombe, a social entrepreneur in Africa, and social media pioneer and enthusiast, Zach Goodwin. Sponsors for the event include Syngenta, Sandbox, One Young World and iStrategy Labs. You can find out more information at www.tffbrussels.com.
The format for TFF@BXL is energizing and unconventional, and will include lots of creative brainstorming and lively debate. We will also create a playbook of new ideas on how young people can change policy, start social business and generate buzz both on and off line. All participants will also have the chance to attend the Forum for the Future of Agriculture, which takes place the next day on 27 March.
TFF@BXL takes place in Brussels, Belgium on Monday, 26 March 2012 from 09.30 a.m. onwards. Entrance is free but space is limited. www.tffbrussels.com
